The USS Pierre (LCS 38) Commissioning Ceremony marks the moment when the ship officially joins the active fleet of the United States Navy. Conducted with time-honored tradition, the event includes remarks from dignitaries, the reading of commissioning orders, and the ship’s first call to duty.
This milestone celebrates not only the ship and her crew, but also the city of Pierre, South Dakota, and the host community of Panama City, Florida — united in pride, service, and support.

Each person awarded tickets is allowed to bring up to 3 guests. You must add them to your request.
Guests are asked not to bring large bags, backpacks or coolers. However, small diaper bags and purses will be allowed. All bags, purses, wallets, coats, etc. are subject to search for weapons, explosives, and contraband. No weapons including knives or sharp pointed objects are allowed at any commissioning event. No beverages or liquids will be allowed through the security check point.

Please arrive at Gulf Coast State College at 7:00 a.m. and no later than 8:30 a.m. in order to proceed through security, board the buses to the Port and be seated by 9:30 a.m.
Buses will transport guests from the address above to the Commissioning Ceremony and will return guests to the location afterward. Transportation will run until 3:00 p.m.
Disabled Guests are advised that the ceremony seating site is accessible for all guests. Golf cart transportation will be available from the commissioning venue entry control point (ECP) for those people requiring mobility assistance.
No parking will be available at Port Panama City for the ceremony or screening. All attendees must park at Gulf Coast State College and use the designated shuttle to access the event. To avoid congestion and turnaround delays, please do not attempt to enter the Port gate either by vehicle or on foot.
Only small bags, purses and wallets are allowed. Large totes and backpacks are prohibited. All personal items are subject to search for weapons, explosives, and contraband. NO weapons including knives or sharp pointed objects are allowed at any commissioning event. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding regarding these procedures required by the U.S. Navy for your safety, the safety of the crew, and the protection of the newest commissioned warship afloat. In order for the security process to flow smoothly and for you and your guests to be seated in time for the ceremony, please ensure that you arrive at the commissioning site at least one and a half hours prior to the ceremony start time.
Uniform for Navy personnel in the official party is Full Dress White and ship’s crew will be Full Dress White. Other U.S. Navy attendees are requested to wear Summer White. Other military attendees are requested to wear their service’s equivalent. Civilians may wear informal dress. Tours of the ship will be available following the ceremony. Those participating should wear comfortable walking shoes (no heels).
The ceremony will proceed rain or shine.

Commanding Officers Reception

Location: Stern of USS Pierre and Pier, Port Panama City
The Commanding Officer’s Reception invites distinguished guests, Navy leadership, and community partners for an evening of coastal camaraderie aboard the USS Pierre (LCS 38) and along the pier at Port Panama City.
Festivities will begin at 4:30 PM, with a Fish Fry & Oyster Shuck provided by Tarpon Dock served on the stern of the ship and the pier beginning around 5:00–5:30 PM. Guests will enjoy a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere as the sun sets over St. Andrew Bay at 4:48 PM (local) — the perfect backdrop for this moment of reflection and fellowship on the eve of commissioning.

Location: GCSC Holley Dining Room
Hosted in the GCSC Holley Dining Room, the luncheon will welcome up to 32 attendees, including members of the Command Triad, Commissioning Committee, and sponsor family. A special gift presentation to the ship’s sponsor will highlight the event, symbolizing the enduring bond between the sponsor, the ship, and her crew.
Chairman's Reception

Location: FSU Panama City – Holley Center
The Chairman’s Reception serves as one of the signature events of USS Pierre (LCS 38) Commissioning Week, hosted to honor key supporters, sponsors, and distinguished guests who made the commissioning possible. Held at the FSU Panama City Holley Center, this elegant stand-up reception offers an evening of recognition, fellowship, and gratitude.
The official program begins with the Color Guard and a formal agenda that includes an opportunity to acknowledge major donors and community partners. Guests are encouraged to attend in business attire as the Commissioning Committee hosts this meaningful evening celebrating dedication, service, and community partnership.
